TRANSPORTATION
We flew to Copenhagen from Prague for about 50€. As public transport in Copenhagen is known for high prices, we rented bikes directly at the airport via the downloaded DONKEY application for about 25€ for 3 days. The whole Copenhagen is very well adapted for cyclists and is almost all on the plain. I think riding a bike is the best way of transport there.
CITY
Copenhagen is a beautiful city full of interesting architecture, parks, museums and especially cyclists :D. It took us 3 days to get to know the city. We managed all the main attractions and enjoyed the peaceful Danish atmosphere. Because buildings in Copenhagen are kept on a low scale, the city and its center are a bit more spread. But you can manage to do everything nicely on bikes.
THE CITY CENTER
In the center of Copenhagen, be sure to not miss the well-known Nyhavn harbour, close is also the Kastellet Fortress, St Alban’s Church and the Little Mermaid Statue. I was also interested in the monumental Frederik’s church with Amalienborg Palace, or Nyboder, Rosenborg Slot with the adjacent park. We did not go directly to Rosenborg Castle, we only went through the park (free). For a delicious burger we went to Sporvejen Byens Burger bar.
fREDERIKSBERG PALACE AND SURROUNDINGS
Frederiksberg is an Italian Baroque palace surrounded by a large landscape park, which was originally designed as a Baroque palace garden. In the park you will find exemplar views of interesting points. If you enter the park from Sondre Fasanvej street, you will find a view of elephants on the right at the local ZOO. Across the road is also the cemetery Solbjerg. Danes generally have interesting cemeteries in that they are designed in the form of a park, and the bereaved can spend pleasant moments in the arms of nature.
TRANSPORT FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE CENTER
If you rent the bikes at the airport like us, you will meet several interesting places on the way to the center. At the beach you will find a nice pier Kastrup Sobad with a beautiful park nearby, over the bridge Dyssebroen you get to a quiet cottage area by the lake with a view of the factory, which has a ski slope on the roof. Nearby is the Christiania district, nicknamed the green light district. You will find a lot of graphite and an interesting community of people. Just before the center, visit the street food market Reffen, where you can try a typical hot dog.
BOTANICAL GARDEN AND MUSEUMS
Copenhagen has a beautiful botanical garden. The outdoor part is free and will please those who are interested in plants. But a huge greenhouse full of tropical plants and butterflies will surely interest even a layman (40Dk student / 60DK adult). We did not have more time left for many other museums. On a rainy afternoon, we visited the Dansk Arkitektur Center, where there is also a super long slide (free). Next door is the interesting Royal Library or the interesting Cirkelbroen Bridge and Islands Brygge Harbor bath.
